Well, sshhh... don't tell anyone but you're getting a 15 minutes early SNEAK PREVIEW at today's Programme. Jack MacRoary is first up at 11am and he wanted to let fellow McVoices and McStorytellers know he's there. So get yourselves virtually along to the festival and fly the flag for Scotland (Sadly the stats are UK, but maybe in a couple of years time we'll sort that out too!)
Welcome back to the festival that comes to you. We’ve had well over 3000 virtual attendees in the first two days of the festival and it’s been great to entertain each and every one of you.
Today’s programme keeps up the same frenetic pace, but remember you can use our CATCH UP service if you miss something – just go to the categories section and pick the event you missed.
11am and a cup of coffee starts the day with our McStory. Today Jack MacRoaryentertains you. You might remember Jack from last year’s festival. Well, our boy’s all grown up now – he’s hit his teens and he’s got better things to do all day than hang around an ebook festival.
At 12.30 we’re sharing lunch with David Wailing. Next week David headlines as our Sci Fi writer in residence each day, but this is a chance to get to virtually meet the man behind the Auto Series.
At 2pm Catherine Czerkawska, our mid-list writer in residence continues her popular residency with a look at the work of Barbara Pym. Catherine will be around her own blog to chat with people during the slot.
At 3pm we continue Festival Director Cally Phillips dramatic journey through a life in (and out of) the theatre. If you wondered what she did before she directed online ebook festivals, here’s a chance to find out. And remember there’s an episode of the Brontes – LIVE. (The Brontes ‘live’ now that’s a phrase you don’t hear every day!) Or you can download the enhanced ebook HERE (make sure you have the technology to play back video as well as text!)
At 4pm Kathleen Jones gives the second ‘workshop’ on her Life-Writing course.Even if you didn’t secure one of the ‘interactive’ places, you’ll still get plenty out of this slot which today talks about Memory and Imagination
At 5pm its Advocacy and we welcome young author Jasmine Gifford whose ebookBeyond Broken Mirrors was a result of Ingrid Ricks ‘We are Absolutely Not Okay’ project.
At 6pm Festival Director Cally Phillips is still on a blog roll asking ‘who controls the blog?’
At 7pm our Crime Writer Residency continues with Chris Longmuir looking at cosy crime. Yes, you heard right, cosy crime. Never heard of it – now’s your chance.
At 8pm We have a LIVE LAUNCH of Dennis Hamley’s OUT OF THE DEEP. Dennis will be on our Facebook page during the slot to chat about all things supernatural.
At 9pm – we’re making Dennis work for his living – he’s back with Part Three of his supernatural in fiction residency. Tonight he looks deeper at why we have ‘ghosts’ in supernatural fiction and whether we really need them at all.
At 10pm it’s time for music. Roz Morris’ Undercover Soundtrack is back and tonight she introduces you to K.M.Weiland.
And rounding it all off at 11pm (or tomorrow morning if you’re in Australia) is Jian Qiu Huang with another Conversation with the Universe. Tonight, think about ‘forgiving’.
So, join visitors from 40 countries around the world and be part of the biggest (and the only) virtual ebook festival in the world. And don’t forget to stock up from THE GOODY BAG. It’s all free for the duration of the festival. And we know you like your FREE goods. Over 200 of you have already availed yourself of the Goody Bag – so when you’ve filled your ereaders, how about telling other people about the festival. It’s good to share.
